Heydoo Hedayati

Composer, singer and photographer from Bushehr.

New album Chronicles of the Night Listen

Bushehr, 1990

Born by the Gulf, raised inside its songs.

Heydoo grew up in Bushehr, where his family brought him into the folk music of the port: first the ney-anbān, the bagpipe of the south, and the drums. The piano came at fifteen; film studies in Tehran followed.

Since 2010 he has worked as a documentary photographer and filmmaker. For years he has followed the music of sailors, divers and labourers along the coast, recording it, filming it, and writing new songs out of it.

Photographs

Golden hour.

Since 2010 he has carried a camera everywhere the music took him. Quiet frames from the road: the shore, the desert, the people and the long horizons in between.
